Record single day spike of close to 10,000 cases in India, total at 2,66,598

Confirmed Covid-19 cases in India stand at 2,66,598 with the highest single-day spike of 9987 new coronavius cases and 331 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data from state governments.

Total number of cases in the country now at 2,66,598, including 1,29,917 active cases, 1,29,215 cured/discharged/migrated and 74,66 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

With 88,528 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far, Maharashtra remains worst-affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (33,229) and Delhi (29,943).

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases will continue to rise in his country, and a peak will be witnessed by the end of July or beginning of August.
