Ranjith reveals Kabali story

During the audio launch of Kabali Telugu version in Hyderabad on Sunday, director Pa Ranjith has revealed the plot of the movie.

“Before Independence, British took Indians/Tamils to Malaysia as labourers and they were forced to work in rubber factories. In the film, Rajinikanth plays a revolutionist, who fights against the cruelty shown towards Tamils and becomes a don to save his people,” he said.

The Attakathi and Madras maker added: “Kabali is not just an action film, it has a lot of emotions. For me, Mullum Malarum is the best performance of Rajinikanth but he outshined it in Kabali.”

Kabali will be premiered at Le Grand Rex, the world’s most popular theatre in Paris. It will be premiered there on July 14 and regular shows will be screened from July 15.

Already, banners of Rajini are decorating the theatre. An atmospheric theatre in American parlance, the Grand Rex’s main auditorium features a starred ceiling and fairytale decorations on both sides of the screen, including water features.

The theatre’s 2800 places are the most of any in Europe, and its 252 m2 screen is the largest in Paris. The cinema’s external facade, out of proportion to neighboring buildings, features large neon signs and an art deco style tower.
