Team members of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali, including director Pa Ranjith, attended the inaugural of De Base Badminton Academy at Thirumudiivakkam (Thiruneermalai Road) in Chennai today.
According to those behind the academy, it is a pure coincidence that the inaugural happened just a day after P V Sindhu won silver in the Rio Olympics.
Besides Ranjith, Kalaiarasan, Mime Gopi, Rithika and others were set to attend the event. Speaking to reporters, Ranjith said he is yet to decide on his next film and script works are currently going on.
Meanwhile, founders of the academy, who are said to be relatives of Ranjith, said, “We are fanatic about badminton. It is one of the games after cricket which is being practiced largely. Our area mates used to play many tournaments across the city.”
“We have no good infrastrucure to practice in indoor. Thus a plan of erecting an indoor shuttle court started. We took almost four to five months to compelte it. This will help interesting players in the locality,” they added.
Meanwhile, Kabali directed by Ranjith is still running packed houses in many theatres across the state, even more than a month after its release. The film produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu has music by Santhosh Narayanan.
