Close on the heels of reports claiming that she has filed a case at a family court in Chennai seeking to reunite with her husband, the latest update about Rambha is that she has sought Rs 1.5 lakh for herself and Rs 50,000 each for her two minor daughters for their upkeep on a monthly basis.
“After marriage I have more or less stopped acting in movies. I don’t have sufficient income to maintain myself and my two children,” she said in the petition filed under the provision of Hindu Marriage Act.
While Rambha’s elder daughter Laanya is studying at a private school, where the fee is Rs 3.5 lakh per annum, her younger daughter Sasha, aged one-and-a-half years, required regular medical treatment. So Rambha required Rs 2.5 lakh to maintain herself and her two minor children, it said.
According to reports, Rambha invoked Section 9 of the Hindu Marriages Act, saying she wanted to live with Indran. The couple have been living separately for some time now.
Rambha filed the present petition before the second additional family court here. The matter has been adjourned to December 3 for further proceedings.
Rambha is married to Indran Pathmanathan, a Canada-based businessman. After the marriage, the actress had settled in Toronto with her husband and began helping him in his business. The couple has two daughters (5-year old Lavanya and 19-month old Sasha).
According to Section 9 of the Act, when either the husband or wife withdraws from the other without reasonable excuse, the aggrieved person may go to court for restitution of his or her conjugal rights.
