Rajini’s Petta, Ajith’s Viswasam open big; fans tear banner in Chennai

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta and ‘Thala’ Ajith’s Viswasam opened to packed houses across Tamil Nadu during the early hours of today.

It was nothing short of celebrations in front of theatres by the fans of both top stars, who bursted fire crackers, beat drums and performed paal abhishekams to the cutouts and banners of the matinee idols.

With initial reviews claiming that both movies are a treat to the fans, it is learnt that Rajini and Ajith fans thoroughly enjoyed the movies and will come to theatres to watch the flicks again.

“Petta is a complete thalaivar film. Kudos to Karthik Subbaraj for carving it in such a beautiful manner. I will come with my family on Sunday,” said Raghu, Rajini fan.

Kutti, an Ajith fan, said, “Thala rocks in two different getups in Viswasam and it is a complete festival film. This Pongal is sure going to be Viswasam Pongal.”

Meanwhile, a section of Ajith fans allegedly tore away a banner kept by Rajini fans at Rohini theatre in Koyambedu. Following this, a tense situation prevailed. But it was brought under control later.
