Rajinikanth talks about Delhi violence, ‘intel failure’ & more

Superstar Rajinikanth has hit out at the Central government over the violence in Delhi, saying the riots should have been dealt with an iron fist.

Speaking to reporters at his Poes Garden residence, he said that protests should not turn violent and recalled his earlier statement that he will stand by Muslims if they were affected by the amended citizenship law.

“Definitely it is Central government’s intelligence failure. I strongly condemn the Central government,” he said and rued that some sections of media and political observers were linking him with the BJP.

“Protests ought to have been contained with iron hand. Intelligence agencies didn’t do their job. Intelligence failure means it is the failure of the Home Ministry,” he said.

“I will stand for anyone who would be affected by CAA,” he said.
“I am pained being portrayed as BJP’s mouthpiece. I only speak the truth,” he added.

“All protests that are happening in Delhi are because of intelligence failure. I condemn it. When a leader like (US President Donald) Trump is in the country, the intelligence (officials) should have been more vigilant. They didn’t do their job properly.

At least now I expect them to be vigilant and the violence should be dealt with an iron fist. If it is the intelligence failure, then it is also the Home Ministry’s failure. I strongly condemn the people and the political parties that use religion for electoral gains,” he said.
