Rajinikanth is Aaditya Arunasalam IPS in Darbar

The name of the character played by superstar Rajinikanth in A R Murugadoss-directed Darbar is Aaditya Arunasalam. He is playing a top police officer in the film.

Interestingly, while the name of Murugadoss’ son is Aaditya, the name of the director’s father is Arunasalam. Since directing a Rajini film is his lifetime ambition, he has named the superstar’s character after his son and father.

In an interview to Ananda Vikatan, Murugadoss has revealed some interesting details about the movie. The story does not contain any politics in it, said the Ghajini, Ramana and Thupakki maker.

Veteran singer SP Balasubramaniam will be crooning the hero’s introduction song and as in ‘Peta’, Anirudh has come up with mass numbers.  While Ram Lakshman duo is taking care of the stunts, Peter Hein has also done a special mass fight that will be one of the highlights.

“Rajinikanth sir invited me and appreciated my work after the release of Ghajini but we didn’t discuss anything about working together in a film,” he said.

Murugadoss added: “Later, we met again but the project didn’t materialize. During the Sarkar shoot, I got a call again from the Superstar. This time, I was firm in convincing him with whatever corrections he suggested.”
“Within one month, the project materialized”,” he said and added: “Rajini sir told me that he hasn’t done a film with the screenplay format of Darbar in his career”.

He added that Suniel Shetty plays the antagonist in the film. “Rajini sir is quite excited about the villain character in the film”, said Murugadoss.
