Rajini, Stalin meet Vijayakanth; trigger speculations

A day after Tamil Nadu Congress Committee’s former president S Thirunavukkarasar called on DMDK president Vijayakanth, more leaders made a beeline to the actor-politician’s residence today.

Superstar Rajinikanth was the first to call on Vijayakanth at Saligramam. Even as his visit triggered speculations that he was trying to bring in DMDK to AIADMK-BJP fold, the superstar denied it.

Rajinikanth termed the meeting as a pure courtesy call as he came to enquire about the health condition of ‘Captain’ (as Vijayakanth is called) after his return from the United States following medical treatment.

“When I was unwell, it was Captain who had first met me personally and enquired about my health condition. So I came to meet him to enquire about his health conditon (on his return from US after treatment)”, he said.

Clarifying that there was no politics in his viist, Rajini added: “Vijayakanth has recovered well…he is fine. I am so happy to see him in good health.”

Soon after Rajini’s meet, DMK president M K Stalin rushed to Vijayakanth’s residence, triggering strong speculations that he woudl invite DMDK to the DMK-Congress alliance.

However, speaking to reporters, Stalin said, “When Kalaignar passed away, Vijayakanth condoled it in an emotional away. I came here only to enquire his health condition. I didn’t speak politics.”
