Rajini completes 45 years in cinema; celebrities, fans greet, superstar thanks

It has been 45 years since superstar Rajinikanth has been ruling over the Indian cinema. Fans and followers from all across have been sharing images and videos to celebrate #45YearsOfRajinismCDP.  Celebrities like Mohanlal, Prithviraj and AR Rahman also joined the fans to celebrate the ‘icon of Indian cinema’.

Rajinikanth made his onscreen debut with director K Balachander’s ‘Apoorva Raagangal’ way back in 1975. The film which also had Kamal Haasan and Srividya in the lead role hit the screens on 15th August 1975.

The star actor who has ruled the Tamil film industry for decades is completing 45 years in cinema on August 15. In connection with this, fans and celebrities seem to be planning to celebrate the day in a big way and as a start, a number of celebs have released the common DP on Sunday.

“5 Decades! 45 Years! An Identity, An Icon of Tamil and Indian Cinema…Extremely Happy to release our beloved Superstar #Rajinikanth Sir’s #45YearsOfRajinismCDP,” Prithviraj posted.

AR Rahman, on the other hand, simply wrote, “#45YearsOfRajinismCDP” while tagging Rajinikanth.

Starting from his daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth, director Lokesh Kanagaraj, Atlee, Sivakarthikeyan, Dulquer Salman, Raghava Lawrence, Mohanlal, Suniel Shetty and many other released the common DP for Superstar Rajinikanth’s 45th year in cinema.

On his twitter handle, Rajinikanth expressed his heartfelt thanks to his fans and a host of people including celebrities who wished him well. A Common Display Picture (CDP) was released on Sunday evening celebrating 45 years of ‘Rajinism’ in Tamil cinema.

Overwhelmed by his fans’ love, Rajinikanth penned a note on Twitter in Tamil. His tweet is translated as, “On this day, which marks the forty fifth anniversary of my theatrical journey, my heartfelt thanks go out to all the good hearts who greeted me and to the fan base of the gods who keep me alive. I won’t be here if not for you.”
