Rajini blames anti-socials for Thoothukudi violence, asks govt to be tough

Blaming intelligence failure for the violence in Thoothkudi, superstar Rajinikanth today said some ‘visha kirumigal’ (posionous elements) had instigated people and asked the public to be careful.

“There is no power greater than human power. They should not even think about re-opening the Sterlite plant. If they do, they are not humans,” Rajinikanth thundered today from Thoothukudi where he gone to visit the people injured during the Sterlite protests and offer condolences to the family of those killed during the incident.

Slamming both the AIADMK and the DMK, he said, “This is all politics. They will keep blaming each other.” Rajinikanth has hit out at those playing politics over the police firing in Tuticorin and said that the violence was the result of an intelligence failure.

Strongly criticising the Tamil Nadu government for the incident, the superstar had openly blamed the government for not heeding the demands of the people and held the government responsible for the violence in the state.

“It is saddening that lives have been lost due to the government’s lethargy in heeding the demands of the people. This should be reprimanded,” he had said.

This morning, before leaving to Thoothukudi, he told reporters in Chennai: “I am going to the hospital in Thoothukudi to visit the injured. It is just a goodwill gesture.”

Rajinikanth today expressed hope that the issue of a ban on the release of his upcoming film “Kaala” in Karnataka will be solved.
