In the next 48 hours, the cyclonic circulation near Sri Lanka is likely to bring heavy rainfall over southern districts until Saturday.
Weather bloggers stated that heavy to moderate rainfall was expected due to the wind movement and depression formed near the southern part of Tamil Nadu.
As per updates from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga and Karaikal.
In Chennai, the sky is likely to be generally cloudy as light rain will occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 31 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
On Thursday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.2 degrees Celsius.
Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.1 degrees Celsius respectively.
