The police are conducting inquires on claims that a guest threatened another, with a gun, at a star hotel in Chennai in the wee hours of Thursday.
Harikrishnan, 48, a resident of Lamech Avenue in Chetpet told police that he was threatened by a man, later identified as Syed, a resident of Nungambakkam.
It all started in the pub attached to the hotel when Harikrishnan bumped into Syed and, in the process, spilled the latter’s drink. After an exchange of abuses, the bouncers mediated a truce, and the men returned to their seats.
When Harikrishnan was at the parking area to leave the hotel, the man allegedly appeared again with a gun and threatened to shoot him.
In the meantime, the complainant called the police control room, and claimed that the man sped away on a four-wheeler. He also specified the vehicle number to the police.
Police issued a community service register (CSR), a preliminary to the first information report (FIR). Police said Syed and Harikrishnan were trying to thrash out the matter. Police, however, are inquiring if the gun is a real one and whether it is licensed.
