Actor Vishal has landed in a fresh controversy. In an interview with a leading Tamil magazine, when asked about the Producers’ Council and its members, he said that the council had not taken good measures against piracy or tackled the problem of satellite rights.
Fllowing the statement, the Producers’ Council called for an immediate meeting. Producer Suresh Kamatchi said, “Vishal has to apologize for what he said. How can he say that if we have issues related to payments etc. we organize meetings with snacks on the table?”
He added: “Also why would he say that every producer was unhappy with the Council’s office bearers? Of late, he has been giving interviews in a way that stirs problems.”
At the same TFPC meeting, members have decided to sell the satellite rights of upcoming Tamil movies on telecast basis and actors, who are getting remuneration more than 50 lakhs should reduce their demand by 30 per cent.
In the interview, Vishal has said that Producers Council is showing interest in participating panchayat for remuneration settlement whereas they haven’t taken any steps to curb piracy and finding new revenue models like Netflix, DTH and DVD.
