Producer K Rajan dies by suicide in Chennai

Film producer K Rajan died by suicide on Sunday by jumping off the Adayar bridge in Chennai.

The industry expressed shock over the death of the producer. A police case has been registered and the investigation is currently underway.

More details regarding his death are still awaited. He is survived by his son Prabhukanth.

K Rajan was a multi-faceted person who contradicted to Tamil cinema as a producer, writer, director and actor.

He began his career in the industry by producing Brammacharigal in 1983. Some of his production ventures include Doubles, Aval Paavam and Ninaikoatha Naaliai.

In 1991, he debuted as a director with Nizhalgal Ravi and Sarathkumar’s Namma Ooru Maariamma and went on to helm Unarchigal in 2005. He also wrote the stories of Thangamana Thangachi and Unarchigal.

Some of his acting projects include Michael Raj, Sonthakkaran, Veettoda Maapillai, Paambu Saatai, Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu and Selvaraghavan’s Bakasuran.

K Rajan was known for making controversial statements at cinema events.

His son, Prabhukanth, debuted in the industry as an actor and then directed RJ Balaji’s LKG.
