Priyamani to play Sasikala in Thalaivi

National award winning actress Priya Mani will essay the role of VK Sasikala, late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s close aide in the movie Thalivi, a biopic on Jayalalithaa, says reports.

Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut is playing the role of Jayalalithaa in the movie directed by AL Vijay. Aravind Swami will be seen in the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MGR.

“Producer Vishnu Induri is making the film in three languages (Telugu, Tamil and Hindi), so he needed an actress with a pan-Indian appeal. Priyamani fits the bill perfectly. Moreover, the director is confident that the actress will bring in her own style to the part,” a source was quoted as saying.

Sources added: “Kangana Ranaut and the team are presently filming some important portions of the film in Mumbai. Priya Mani will be joining the team soon.”

Meanwhile, in the upcoming bilingual titled Dr 56, the award-winning actor Priya Mani has been roped in to play a CBI officer. It is a sci-fi action thriller that will be directed by Rajesh Anand Leela. Praveen Reddy will be sharing the screen space with Priya Mani in this flick. Incidentally, the hero is also in charge of the film’s story and screenplay.

The director said he is filming every scene twice, one for the Kannada version and the other for the Tamil version. Besides Dr. 56, Priya Mani also has the Telugu flicks Virata Parvam and Sirivennala in her kitty.
