Ahead of the release of Sarkar, a lot is cooking over the film and its protagonist Vijay, who is said to be having political ambitions.
Posters hailing Vijay as the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu, with photos of all CMs of the state so far, have been pasted across Chennai by his fans.
This has given raise to many eyebrows. Meanwhile, fans are planning to have grand celebrations in front of theatres screening the film.
In the meantime, it is alleged that tickets for first day shows are being sold for exorbitant rates in some places. At some areas on the suburbs of Chennai, tickets are being sold for as high as Rs 700, it is said.
A theatre called Ranee Paradise in Thanjavur tweeted: “Since we have not agreed to “Sarkar” Distributor’s condition of selling all tickets in Black for more than Rs.200 for the 1st 2 days, we will not screen Sarkar.”
“We always want to provide good cinema in an Ethical Manner. Actor Vijay should practice what he preaches.@actorvijay,” it said and added: “This is the case of all theatres across Tamil Nadu.”
Directed by AR Murugadoss, ‘Sarkar’ is set to release on November 6. Keerthy Suresh and Varalakshmi played the female leads. Music is by A R Rahman.
There has been an unprecedented hype around the film, ever since its trailer broke records and went viral. After last year’s blockbuster Mersal, Vijay has phenomenal reach across the globe.
The Sarkar trailer had hints of being more political than Vijay’s usual dance-and-fight commercial cocktail.
