Popular actress’ SOS call

A 30-member film crew from Kerala, including actress Manju Warrier, was rescued after being stranded in a remote Himachal Pradesh village following heavy rain and floods for the past few days.

Manju Warrier and her film crew, including filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, got stranded in Himachal Pradesh on Monday after flash floods and landslides blocked the roads in many parts of the state.

Manju’s brother, Madhu Warrier, said that the crew, which requires immediately help, was experiencing a shortage of food as they are unable to move from the shooting location.

They were shooting in the Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh when they got stuck in a flood-hit village of Chhattru, where Sanal Kumar Sasidharan was shooting for the film Kayattam. Chhatru is located on the road to Spiti Valley from Manali, which is 80 km away.

“We have packed up our luggage keeping in view the weather here. We will leave for Manali as soon as a road in Gramphu area is repaired. If we face any difficulty, the administration will not be responsible for it,” Ganga Ram, a member of the film crew, wrote in a note to the police.

“The administration has been asking us to leave Chhatru for the last four days. We will be fully responsible if any untoward incident happens during our stay,” the written statement said.

Manju Warrier is set to mark her debut in Tamil Industry with Dhanush’s Asuran directed by veteran director Vetrimaran. Recently the shoot of the film was wrapped.
