Actor Ponnambalam, who is known for playing negative roles, has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai due to kidney-related ailments. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan got to know of Ponnambalam’s health condition and spoke to him over the phone.
A video of Ponnambalam from the hospital has surfaced online, where he can be receiving treatment for his ailments. Kamal has come forward to bear the educational expenses of the actor’s two kids.
Kamal Haasan, who has acted with Ponnambalam in three films namely Vetri Vizha, Apoorva Sagodharargal and Michel Madhana Kama Rajan also hosted the Tamil reality show Bigg Boss when Ponnambalam, has offered financial support.
The 56-year-old actor started out in films as a stuntman and then started acting in minor roles in films. A couple of such roles, in the films of Kamal Haasan, like Apoorva Sagodharargal and Michael Madana Kama Rajan, got him noticed, but he hit the big league when he played the villain in KS Ravikumar’s 1994-film Naattaamai, starring Sarath Kumar.
In the Tamil reality show, he had a good relationship with Kamal Haasan and they both recalled some moments from shootings when they both worked together. However, he got evicted from the show after he made some offensive statements.
Ponnambalam was last seen in Jayam Ravi’s Comali, which hit the theatres in 2019. He was one of the contestants in the second edition of Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Kamal Haasan. Apart from being an actor, he also stepped into politics in 2011.
