A 20-year-old woman was found dead on the side of the road near Gomangalam town with her neck slashed on Saturday. The Coimbatore police have formed special teams to track down the accused.
Police quoting preliminary inquiries said that Satish has approached her parents with a marriage proposal, but they rejected it and fixed it with other person and the wedding was scheduled in June.
CCTV footages also revealed that she was abducted in a car near her college.
According to sources, the woman had boarded a bus to her hometown on Friday afternoon and had spoken to her mother during the journey. Her parents went ahead with the complaint as Asha did not reach home on Friday.
The victim’s body reportedly was found with many injury marks. It was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College for postmortem. Police are analysing the CCTV footage at her college to find any leads in the case and further investigating the incident.
The body also bore several injury marks, though the jewellery worn by her remained intact, ruling out the possibility of murder for gain.
An FIR has been registered at Gomangalam police station under section 302 (murder) of the IPC. Four special teams have been formed by Coimbatore SP Sujith Kumar to nab the culprits behind the murder and the police are analysing the CCTV footage near her college to find any leads to the murder.
