Police arrest youth who pushed girl before train

Tamil Nadu Police arrests Satish who pushed his girlfriend before train at St Thomas Mount Railway station on Thursday.

A 20-year-old college girl was killed after she was pushed in front of a moving train by a 23-year-old man, whose propoal she refused to entertain, on Thursday at St Thomas Mount Railway station in Chennai.

Police said the deceased was Sathya of St Thomas Mount and was studying Bcom second year at a private college in T Nagar.

Her father is Manikkam (47) and mother Ramalakshmi (43) is a head constable at the Adambakkam police station.

Since Sathish was torturing her regularly, the parents filed a complaint at the Mambalam police station a few weeks ago. On Thursday, around 1.15 pm, when Sathya was waiting at the St Thomas Mount railway station to board the EMU to her college, Sathish came to meet her and ended up arguing with her.

Police said there was a heated argument between the duo and while the Tambaram-Beach EMU was approaching the first platform, Sathish pushed Sathya. In the impact, she was hit by the EMU and died on the spot. Other commuters tried to catch Sathish, but he managed to escape from the spot.
