PM Modi reaches out to farmers
Addressing a function after laying the foundation stone of a state university named after “Jat king” and freedom fighter Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh in Aligarh, Modi said the Centre had paid Rs 1 lakh crore directly to small farmers during the pandemic, of which over Rs 25,000 crore went to farmers in Uttar Pradesh.
To be set up in over 92 acres of land, the university will provide affiliation to 395 colleges of the Aligarh division. The Uttar Pradesh government has named the university after Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh – a freedom fighter, educationist and social reformer.
“Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh not only fought for the freedom of India but also played an active role in building a foundation for India’s development in the future,” PM Modi told the gathering.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch ‘Sansad TV’ today, along with Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Sansad TV is a merger of Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV, a decision which was taken in February this year. The Centre had appointed a CEO for the channel in March only.
