Petta, Viswasam leaked online; strict action planned

Despite an order from the Madras high court, both superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam were leaked online on the day of their release itself, much to the shock of their makers and the actors’ fans.

Following this, Petta producers Sun Pictures and Viswasam makers Sathya Jyothi Films are reportedly planning to approach the highest forum possible demanding strict action against piracy websites.

Already, makers of Petta and Viswasam moved the Madras High Court to instruct the internet service providers to restrain 3,710 websites from publishing the pirated links of the films. As the High Court has passed a similar order for many films, the makers of both the films got favorable verdict.

Recently, the producers of ‘2.0’ starring Rajinikanth had moved to the Madras High Court to prevent the pirated version of the film to be leaked online. But Tamilrockers managed to leak the film after the release.

As Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam hit the screens on Thursday, in time for the Pongal festival, fans of both stars were in a frenzy, to the extent that a several other mishaps, too, have occurred during the fanfare across the state.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Petta has Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Simran and others in key roles. The film which has music by Anirudh Ravichander has hit the screens in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Viswasam, directed by Siruthai Siva, stars Ajith, Nayanthara and Baby Anikha in important roles. The film has been receiving positive responses from the critics and audience, who have watched the early morning shows.
