Passport fees to increase from July 1, 2026
The Ministry of External Affairs has announced revised passport and travel document charges that will take effect from July 1, 2026, following amendments to the Passport Rules.
Under the revised structure:
A standard 36-page passport for adults will cost ₹2,500, compared to the earlier fee of ₹1,500.
The Tatkal fee for the same passport category will be ₹5,000.
A 60-page passport will cost ₹3,500, while the Tatkal fee will be ₹6,000.
For applicants below 18 years of age:
A 36-page passport will cost ₹1,750. The Tatkal fee has been fixed at ₹4,250.
Charges for replacing lost or damaged passports have also been increased. A replacement 36-page passport will cost ₹5,000 under the normal process and ₹7,500 under Tatkal. For a 60-page passport, the corresponding fees will be ₹6,000 and ₹8,500 respectively.
The government has also revised fees for services such as Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), Surrender Certificates, Global Entry Program verification, and other passport-related certifications to ₹750.
The validity period remains unchanged:
Adult passports will continue to be valid for 10 years.
Passports issued to minors will remain valid for five years or until the holder turns 18, whichever comes first.
The existing 10% fee concession for children up to eight years of age and senior citizens above 60 years will continue.
