Parthiepan out of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan?

Actor R Parthiepan has opted out of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan citing to commitment in other projects.

The actor confirmed the news to an entertainment portal stating that he opted out due to date issues. Produced by Lyca in association with Madras Talkies, the movie has other megastars onboard including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Jyothika, Lal, Keerthi Suresh, Trisha among the others.

It is said Parthiepan opted out of the film due to clash with his new film Tughlaq Durbar starring Vijay Sethupathi. Parthiepan thought that the makers of Tughlaq Durbar wouldn’t immediately commence the shoot as Sethupathi is busy with multiple projects.

But the producers have now asked Parthiepan’s dates from January so he had no other option left but to politely come out of Ponniyin Selvan. The cast of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is getting stronger each passing day. A recent update is that Trisha and Amitabh Bachchan are a part of the film.

So far both Trisha and Amitabh have not officially announced their presence in Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. Popular Malayalam actor Lal has also revealed that the film will be made in two parts.

Mani Ratnam and the crew were recently spotted in Thailand for a recce. The film is likely to go on floors early next year. It is said Trisha has been roped in to play one of the lead roles in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan.

Recently Lal took to Instagram to share his unbounded happiness for being included in the multi-star cast project. “In my entire acting career, Maniratnam sir is the only person, to whom I have asked for an opportunity.
