Parliament Winter Session: Both Houses adjourned amid stir over Amit Shah and Rahul issue

Lok Sabha witnessed high drama on Thursday afternoon as Opposition MPs stood at Speaker’s dais in the House, protesting against Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged “insulting” remarks on BR Ambedkar, leading to adjournment for the day.

Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day as no business was transacted following the protest over Shah’s remarks and BJP MP S Phangnon Konyak’s complaint that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi came close to her and shouted at her.

In Lok Sabha, MPs stood at the dais as Vice Chairman Dilip Saikia started proceedings of the House but immediately adjourned the House for the day.

Earlier in the morning session too, Lok Sabha functioned for only a couple of minutes as both ruling and Opposition MPs were on their feet shouting slogans. Both sides had a face-off outside Parliament.
