For the second time within a week, finance minister O Panneerselvam, who has been entrusted with portfolios held by chief minister J Jayalalithaa, will chair a meeting of Tamil Nadu cabinet today.
The likely Cabinet meeting comes against the background of a similar meeting held four days ago and it was chaired by Panneerselvam for the first time.
The last Cabinet meeting held by Panneerselvam deliberated key issues related to Tamil Nadu like the Cauvery.
During today’s meeting, issues such as the Cauvery row and the government’s stand on nregistration of unapproved plots, which was demanded by the HC on Friday, would be discussed, it is said.
It may be recalled that Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao allocated the portfolios held by the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to Panneerselvam following the hospitalisation of the AIADMK general secretary on September 22.
A framed portrait of Jayalalithaa in front of him, Panneerselvam chaired Tamil Nadu’s first cabinet meeting in Jayalalithaa’s absence Wednesday.
