“Pagalariyaan” Movie Review
The movie “Pagalariyaan” centers on Vetri, who, after serving a prison sentence for his father’s death, finds love with Akshaya Gandhamudhan. Despite her father’s objections due to Vetri’s past, Akshaya bravely decides to leave her home to be with him. Their journey together is both heartfelt and adventurous, highlighting the strength of their love.
Meanwhile, Murugan, a fierce yet silent character, is on a quest to find his missing sister, who has been kidnapped by his enemies. His storyline adds a thrilling parallel to Vetri and Akshaya’s romance. As Vetri attempts to fund their new life by extorting a man involved in a prostitution ring, he also tries to sedate Akshaya, leading to shocking revelations and complex character dynamics.
The film skillfully explores whether Akshaya can forgive Vetri, the reasons behind his actions, and whether Murugan can save his sister. Each twist keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, providing a rich narrative experience.
Vetri’s performance, though described as rigid, is a deliberate choice to match the character’s ambiguous morality. This nuanced portrayal ensures the audience remains engaged with his internal conflicts. Murugan, despite being a debutant, delivers an intense and convincing performance, particularly in emotionally charged scenes involving his sister.
Akshaya Gandhamudhan shines as the female lead, bringing depth and emotion to her role. Vinu Priya adds a significant twist to the plot, enhancing the film’s intrigue. Chaplin Balu impresses in an action-oriented role, showcasing his versatility beyond comedy. Deena, as a police officer, adds to the film’s tension, despite a smaller role.
Cinematographer Abhilash’s skillful use of nighttime settings ensures the film remains visually engaging without feeling overly dark. Vivek Sarov’s music, both songs and background score, beautifully complements the film’s atmosphere, adding to its emotional depth.
Editor Guru Pradeep’s adept handling of the film’s twists maintains a captivating pace throughout. Director and writer Murugan delivers a compelling suspense thriller on a limited budget, skillfully weaving a narrative that keeps the audience guessing.
Notable dialogues like “A person with bad habits is not necessarily a bad person” and “I am a bad guy, but can’t a good person like you give me a chance?” add depth to the story.
Despite minor flaws, “Pagalariyaan” is a concise, engaging film that successfully combines romance, suspense, and action, making it well worth watching.
