One more actor joins Vijay’s ‘Thalapathy64’, complaint against team

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film, tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy64’ starring Vijay will now see the addition of a new comedian. It has been reported that Dheena, who rose to fame with his performance in the Kalakka Povathu Yaaru television show will be starring in the movie.

Dheena, a budding actor and a famous television personality had gained good reviews for his acting in his debut film Power Pandi with actor Dhanush. He was also seen in Karthi starrer Kaithi, which was released for Deepavali.

The recent Chennai schedule was completed at a school in which Vijay, Nasser and Azhagam Perumal participated. The team has now moved to Shimoga, Karnataka where the main sequences in the story involving Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi who is playing the chief antagonist will be shot.

The rest of the top-notch cast of the film includes Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Shantanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, Premkumar, Chetan, Sanjeev, Srinath and Sriman among others.

Meanwhile, the team behind the Tobacco Monitor App have released a statement saying that a complaint has been received aabout various COTPA violations by the crew members of Thalapathy 64 starring Vijay, Vijay Sethupathy and Malavika Mohanan and directed by Kaithi director Lokesh Kanagaraj.

The crew of the movie has been shooting at a school for visually challenged-children in Poonamalle and the members were found to be smoking inside the school premises during the shoot.

According to a press release, “The Section 4 of the COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) states that, ‘Smoking in public places is prohibited’. On the other hand, Section 6 (b) states that the sale or usage of cigarettes or any other tobacco product is prohibited within 100 yards of any educational institution; be it school, college or even a tuition centre’. The movie crew has shown such a lethargic attitude by smoking inside the school where countless number of disabled children get educated.”
