On World Environment Day, Refex Group initiates mega tree plantation drive – ‘Trees for Life’

* Joins hands with Tamil Nadu government to plant 10,000 saplings across the state of Tamil Nadu.
*Vows to plant and nurture 1 lakh trees over the next few years

Refex Group, a conglomerate that has been conducting businesses involving Refrigerant Gases, Pharmaceuticals, Renewable Energy, Power Trading, Medical Equipment, Ash and coal Handling, and has also been running an AIF, has pledged to plant and nurture 1 lakh trees over the next few years under the project ‘Trees for Life’. The Group is committed to planting 10,000 trees this year, in partnership with the Tamil Nadu government under the leadership of the Hon’ble. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M K
Stalin, and the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

On the occasion of World Environment Day today, the initiative was rolled out by planting 2,000 trees with the partnership of GCC. The first set of saplings were planted at ‘Kurinji Illam’ on Greenways Road, and the event was attended by more than 50 guests. Anil Jain, Managing Director of Refex Group handed over the saplings to Hon’ble. Minister to Government, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin in the presence of Hon’ble. Mayor, Greater Chennai
Corporation, R. Priya, Respectful Deputy Mayor, Greater Chennai Corporation, M. Mahesh Kumar, and  Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, Dr. J. Radhakrishnan (I.A.S) among  the other dignitaries. Thiru. Udayanidhi Stalin planted 10 saplings in ‘Kurinji Illam’ to kick-start the campaign.

Speaking about the initiative, Anil Jain, Managing Director, Refex Group said, “We believe that sustainability is crucial to ensure the survival of our planet. By using resources in a responsible and efficient manner, we can help conserve them for our future generations. In addition to infusing sustainable practices into our operations, our sustainability strategies also aim to arrest climate change and lead to ecosystem restoration. Mayor of the Greater Chennai Corporation graced the occasion and planted the first few saplings.”

“Also, resonating with this year’s theme of World Environment Day – #BeatPlasticPollution, we have conducted a beach clean-up drive at Marina. Around 70 employees along with their families, participated and collected more than 20 large bags of plastic wasted and disposed off in a responsible manner along with GCC people. Refex has already implemented a plastic- free office policy a year back and banned the  usage of all kinds of single-use plastics. We are highly committed to integrating the ten principles of the UN  Global Compact into our strategies, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity to contribute towards achieving the SDGs,” Anil Jain added.
