Police today arrested Bullet Nagaraj of Melmangalam in Theni district of Tamil Nadu who had allegedly threatened a woman police officer over a WhatsApp audio.
The Karimedu police in Madurai district were already on the lookout for him based on a complaint filed by a movie producer.
A special team of seven policemen was formed by the Karimedu police to nab him. An FIR was filed under sections 294(b) (Sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place), 506 (Criminal intimidation) and 189 (Threat of injury to public servant) on him based on the complaint. TNM spoke to the Theni SP, who confirmed the arrest.
An audio clip threatening the Madurai central prison superintendent Urmila went viral on WhatsApp, forcing the officer to lodge a complaint against Nagaraj on Friday. He threatened to kill the officer and a woman prison doctor.
In the audio message which went viral on social media, he claimed that he had been an inmate of all major jails in the State and knew the malpractices taking place inside the prison.
He threatened Madhana Kala saying she should not beat anyone in public space and dared her to go out alone in the night.
He issued the threats after his elder brother S Ramesh alias Murugan, who was recently released from prison, claimed he was ‘ill-treated’ in Madurai jail.
