Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address a press conference at 4 PM today in New Delhi, her office informed today morning in a tweet.

Nirmala Sitharaman expected to provide the details of Rs 20 lakh crore economic package which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. In his address to the nation, PM Modi also announced massive new financial incentives on top of the previously announced packages for a combined stimulus of Rs 20 lakh crore.

Nirmala Sitharaman took forward the views expressed by PM Modi in his address to the nation. In his address, PM Modi announced a Rs 20 lakh crore financial package, underscored the need for the country to be self-reliant and also asked people to ensure that our lives do not revolve around the disease as they have been for the last 50-odd days. He also said that India’s economy needs transformation and not incremental changes.
The finance minister is expected to announce package for the MSME sector which has bore the brunt of the lockdown as sales have frozen and payments from bigger industrial units are overdue. A credit guarantee scheme could likely be announced.
