The number of new Covid-19 cases has once again marginally outpaced the number of discharges in Tamil Nadu.
While 5,005 patients were discharged, 5,015 of the 90,107 tested at 65 labs tested positive. As many as 65 died, taking the Covid toll to 10,252.
With 44,095 active cases, TN, with 6,56,385 cases so far, remains the fourth worst-hit in the country. At present, for every 100 confirmed cases, seven are under treatment at healthcare centres or at their homes.
The State also recorded 65 more deaths, taking the toll to 10,252, according to the daily bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
In Chennai district, 1,250 more persons were diagnosed with the infection, while 1,070 were discharged. The district also recorded 19 deaths, taking the toll to 3,415. At present, 13,751 persons are undergoing treatment either at healthcare facilities or at home.
In the neighbouring Chengalpattu district, 258 more people tested positive for the infection. Kancheepuram reported 158 fresh cases. Tiruvallur reported 198 fresh cases and seven deaths.
According to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health, Tamil Nadu tested 90,107 samples and 88,439 people on the day. The total number of samples tested is 83,22,832 and people tested 80,84,587.
