Nayanthara, who recently faced ugly remarks from Radha Ravi, has received support from Women in Cinema Collective, an organisation of women working in Mollywood.
The forum said in a statement: “The latest issue of Radha Ravi insulting a top Tamil Actor points once again to the deep misogyny that exists in the Indian Cinema Industry.
Slut shaming of any kind is contemptible.
Our colleague in her reply has stated succinctly that the need of the hour is mechanisms for making complaints & seeking redressal. The laws of the land are clearly laid down and followed by most other industries.
Why are these laws not followed in the film industry? A top professional like her has asked her Association why they haven’t formed an ICC to protect rights of its members…
this is the same matter WCC is addressing in the Writ Petition to the Kerala High Court and the Malayalam industry associations.
Nadigar Sanghom has condemned his behaviour and threatened action if it continues, thereby supporting their member. What happens to those who do not receive such support from their association or industry? What about countless less empowered women employed in the Industry? Who do they turn to?”
