Nayab Singh Saini sworn in as Haryana Chief Minister
Nayab Saini Oath Taking Ceremony Highlights: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nayab Singh Saini took oath as Chief Minister of Haryana for the second time on Thursday, October 17.
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administer the oath of office and secrecy.
Eleven ministers and two Ministers of State (MoS) took oath along with Saini. The ministers who took oath include Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Pawar, Rao Narbir Singh, Mahipal Dhanda,Vipul Goel, Arvind Kumar Sharma, Shyam Singh Rana, Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Krishan Kumar Bedi, Shruti Choudhry and Arti Singh Rao. Choudhry and Rao are two women ministers in the cabinet.
Rajesh Nagar and Gaurav Gautam also took oath as MoS (Independent Charge) on the occasion.
Top leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party, including Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, chief ministers, deputy chief minister, and other leaders, representing National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were present at the oath-taking venue in Panchkula.
Earlier, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking a stay on the swearing-in ceremony of Nayab Singh Saini as Haryana’s Chief Minister. The top court observed that it cannot restrain an elected government from taking an oath and warned the petitioner of imposing a fine.
The Haryana government cannot have more than 13 members in the cabinet including the Chief Minister.
Saini, 54 staked claim to form the next government after he was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party on Wednesday.
BJP secured a historic third term in Haryana, winning 48 seats in the 90-member assembly. The Congress won 37 seats. The elections were held on October 5 and the results declared on October 8.
