“Mylanji” Movie Review
Love dares. Love fights. Love survives change
Charu (Krisha Kurup) is a wealthy yet innocent young woman who has grown up as an orphan under the care of her aunt and uncle in the breathtaking hill station of Lovedale. Surrounded by misty mountains and serene landscapes, Charu leads a sheltered life filled with simple dreams. She falls in love with Kathir, a young man from a nearby town, and believes her future is set. However, fate takes an unexpected turn when Kathir suddenly leaves for Chennai without explanation.
While Charu struggles with his absence, her aunt plans to marry her off to her irresponsible son, a proposal that deeply distresses her. Just then, she meets Surya (Sriram Karthik), a gentle and thoughtful bird watcher visiting from Chennai. Surya is instantly drawn to Charu’s purity and kindness. In a surprising twist, Charu seeks his help—not for himself—but to reunite her with Kathir, since Surya too is from Chennai. Putting her happiness above his own feelings, Surya selflessly agrees to help her.
As they spend time together navigating emotions and uncertainties, Charu slowly realizes that her heart has changed. The affection she once felt for Kathir gradually blossoms into a deeper understanding and admiration for Surya. The story then unfolds into an engaging love triangle, with Charu standing at the crossroads of her emotions. Will Surya confess his love? Will Kathir return? And who will ultimately win Charu’s heart?
Krusha Kurup delivers a sincere performance as the innocent and conflicted Charu, while Sriram Karthik impresses as the sensitive young man torn between love and sacrifice. The film’s greatest strength lies in its stunning visuals—the mist-covered mornings, flowing brooks, charming cottages, and lush hills beautifully frame the emotional journey.
Though the narrative follows a classic romantic style, its heartfelt performances, rich production values, and mesmerizing natural backdrop make it an enjoyable and visually captivating experience.
