Ms. Mahima Joyce, at just 3.4 years old, achieved the youngest player award

Ms. Mahima Joyce, at just 3.4 years old, achieved an outstanding accomplishment by clinching the youngest player award at the recent state-level chess tournament hosted at Sherwood Hall School in Chetpet. The tournament, which took place on 29th June 2024, was organized by PlayU.in and saw participation from around 550 enthusiastic players. Despite her tender age, Mahima captivated everyone with her remarkable passion for chess. She fearlessly competed in all six rounds of the under 7 category for girls, demonstrating incredible patience and courage throughout the event from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Her admirable display of sportsmanship in facing off against numerous young girls under the age of 7 is truly inspiring.

What makes Mahima’s achievement even more impressive is her early start in learning chess. Having commenced her training with Ms. Thulasi Ranjani at King Milinda Academy in Anna Nagar at the age of 2.3 years, Mahima has shown exceptional dedication and talent in the game.
