Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon visit Chennai to enquire about the health status of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who has been hospitalised, minister of State for highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan has said.
Speaking to reporters in Tirupur, he said, “The Prime Minister is keen to know about the health condition of Jayalalithaa and get updates on it and will soon visit Chennai.”
Meanwhile, a health expert from Singapore has joined the group of doctors treating the AIADMK general secretary.
Quoting hospital sources, reports said that the expert analysed Jayalalithaa’s treatment and consulted the other doctors, including AIIMS specialists and expert from UK Richard John Beale, who re-examined the AIADMK secretary’s health during the last couple of days.
In the meantime, AIADMK party cadres conducted special prayers across the state, wishing her a speedy recovery.
Led by senior party leaders, ministers and MLAs, special ‘lakshmi poojas’ were conducted in temples in Dindigul, Karur, Ulundurpet, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur, Salem and also in Chennai, party sources said.
Some party members also did special poojas at a temple in the premises of Apollo Hospital, where the 68-year-old Chief Minister was admitted on September 22.
