Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai.
Speaking to reporters, Tamil Nadu BJP President Tamilisai Soundararajan said the dates for the foundation stone laying event will be decided soon.
Meanwhile, ‘world-class’ yoga and naturopathy hospital, stated to be the first of its kind in the country, will be set up near here at a cost of Rs 60 crore, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami announced on Monday.
It is being set up to encourage yoga and naturopathy, which played a key role in both preventing and curbing non-communicable diseases due to lifestyle changes, he told the state Assembly.
The Chief Minister also introduced several infrastructural projects to improve the facilities at the government medical colleges and hospitals in the city. As a part of this, the various multi-speciality departments of the Stanley Medical College and Hospital will all be accomodated in a single multi-storeyed building which is being built at the premises at a cost of Rs 55.55 crores.
Similarly, the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital will get an additional four floors at a cost of Rs 42.88 crores to accommodate all facilities needed to treat people who get admitted as out-patients, Palaniswami added.
