Modi concludes two-day ministers’ meeting with focus on welfare delivery
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers discussed ways to improve the delivery of government welfare programmes as a two-day Chintan Shivir concluded in New Delhi on Thursday.
The ministers were divided into eight groups for the discussions, with Modi interacting with the groups individually as well as addressing the ministers collectively.
According to sources, roughly 40 to 45 government welfare schemes were considered during the exercise.
A major focus was on ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are covered by welfare programmes and improving communication between the government and citizens about available schemes and development initiatives.
Government sources said communication with the public would receive greater attention in the coming days.
The first day’s discussions covered governance, reforms and outreach to women and young people. Ministers also examined ways to improve implementation through closer coordination between different ministries and departments.
Modi sought feedback from ministers and offered inputs on governance-related matters, according to people familiar with the discussions.
