Modi and Poland’s Donald Tusk agree to expand cooperation in defence, space and nuclear energy
India and Poland have agreed to deepen their strategic partnership, with defence, space and nuclear energy emerging as key areas for expanded cooperation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the announcement after holding talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the latter’s three-day visit to India.
The discussions covered bilateral relations, economic opportunities and international conflicts, including the ongoing war in Ukraine. Tusk’s visit comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts to find a path towards ending the conflict.
Speaking after the meeting, Modi said the two countries had reached an understanding to strengthen their engagement across several strategic sectors. He also invited Polish companies to work with Indian partners on joint development and production initiatives.
The prime minister highlighted the growing economic relationship between the countries, noting that a proposed free trade agreement between India and the European Union could create further opportunities for cooperation.
Modi also underlined the shared importance that India and Poland place on democratic principles and the rule of law. He called for reforms to international governance institutions to make them more effective and better equipped to address global challenges.
On international conflicts, the Indian prime minister reiterated New Delhi’s commitment to supporting genuine diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring peace in Ukraine and West Asia.
The talks are expected to provide fresh momentum to India-Poland relations, particularly in strategic industries, economic engagement and international cooperation.
