MK Stalin looks more and more unlikely to win Kolathur
As the 15th round of counting concludes in Kolathur, the situation for Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has become increasingly critical.
According to the latest data from the Election Commission of India (ECI) as of 3:09 PM, the gap between the incumbent and his challenger has widened significantly.
V.S. Babu of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) currently holds a firm lead with 60,637 votes, accounting for approximately 45.14% of the vote share.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is trailing in second place with 53,563 votes, leaving a margin of 7,074 votes with only 7 rounds of counting remaining.
The shift is particularly stark given that Kolathur has been a DMK bastion since 2011, with Stalin winning by a massive margin of over 70,000 votes in the 2021 elections.
While the DMK camp remains hopeful that the remaining urban pockets may favor the Chief Minister, the current trajectory mirrors the broader statewide trend where the TVK is leading in 151 seats.
If these trends hold through the final rounds, it would mark a historic upset for the DMK leadership in what was previously considered one of the safest seats in the state.
