MGR relative murder case: Court awards life sentence to all 7 guilty

All the seven accused in the Vijayan aka Vijayakumar (53), the husband of Sudha, a foster daughter of former Chief Minister and AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran, murder case were convicted by a sessions court in Chennai on Wednesday.

The court awarded them life sentence and Rs 10,000 each as fine. Eight years after Vijayan was murdered here, the Principal Sessions Court today pronounceed its judgement in the case/

Legendary late CM MGR s foster son-in-law K Vijayan (53), alias Vijayakumar, was murdered here on 4 June, 2008.

A preliminary probe by police had indicated a dispute over control of properties bestowed by MGR to his family as the motive behind the crime.

The 8-years long trial came to an end on Wednesday with the Principal Sessions Judge G Jayachandran pronouncing all seven accused, including Vijayan’s relative Bhanu, Karuna (39), another relative, who arranged for the hirelings to kill Vijayan, guilty

Karuna had allegedly hired five men to murder Vijayan. While two followed Vijayan’s car in a motorcycle, others toed the victim in another car and murdered him.
