In two different anouncements made by her in the Assembly on Wednesday, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has said that a virtual reality centre will be set up at Chetpet and catamaran training academy at Marina beach in Chennai.
Under Rule 110 in the Assembly, the CM said the academy is as part of fulfilling her party’s poll promise of setting up water sport facilities.
She said that the government led by her has been taking various initiatives to motivate and equip sportspersons in the State, to make them win laurels in national and international events.
In another announcement, she announced a solar powered aquarium and Virtual Reality Centre at the restored Chetpet lake, at a cost of Rs 6.75 crore.
Jayalalithaa said that the water body, which is located in the heart of the city, was renovated at Rs 42 crore and an eco-park was created, which was inaugurated by her earlier this year.
“The park has received tremendous response from the public, besides enriching ground water in the locality,” she said, adding that in a bid to attract more visitors to the facility, the aquarium and Virtual Reality Centre will be started.
