The much-awaited ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’, written and directed by Hiphop Tamizha Adhi, is gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on September 25. With its vibrant music, youthful energy and an emotionally rooted story, the film has already generated considerable anticipation among audiences.
The songs from the film – ‘Aura 10/10’, ‘Pappali Pazhamey’, ‘Goindhamma’, ‘Adi Podi’ and ‘Kalaivaaniye’, have struck a chord with music lovers, further amplifying the excitement surrounding the film.
A press meet for ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ was held in Chennai, ahead of the film’s release and the commencement of its promotional tour.
Speaking at the event, Hiphop Tamizha Adhi said: “After a two-year world tour, I am extremely happy to meet you all again through a film. Before embarking on any new beginning, I would like to express my gratitude to the press and media fraternity. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this press meet possible at such short notice. This is especially significant because it carries an important sentiment for our producer Sundar C sir.”
Explaining how ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ differs from the first instalment, Adhi said:
“‘Meesaya Murukku’ was a biopic based on my own life. But ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ is a much broader and more universal story. It is a global story about music, musicians and the lives they lead. It explores the dreams, struggles, journeys and emotions of people who choose music as their way of life.”
One of the film’s significant themes is the world of Gana musicians and artistes, whose music often emerges from their lived experiences.
“In particular, the film becomes an important record of Gana artistes who express their struggles, experiences and journeys through songs and make a living through their art. Their stories and the world they come from are an important part of this film,” he added.
Speaking about the father character in the film, Adhi acknowledged the emotional significance of the late Vivek sir, who played his father in the first part.
“No one can ever fill the place of the late Vivek sir, who played the father in the first part. However, ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ moves through three different time periods, and there is a very important father character in this story as well. I felt that Baba Bhaskar Master was the right person for this role.”
Adhi further revealed that Baba Bhaskar initially had reservations about taking up the role, but eventually embraced the character with conviction. “He was slightly hesitant initially, but he trusted me and went ahead with the role. He has performed extremely well. I genuinely believe that after this film, he will earn a significant place in Tamil cinema as an actor.”
The film also introduces a new dimension through its female lead, with Ketika Sharma playing Laila Singh, a dancer who travels to Chennai from Punjab.
The contrasting worlds of music, dance, ambition and love come together in ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’, promising audiences an energetic yet emotionally grounded cinematic experience.
The film’s promotional tour is set to commence with events across Coimbatore, Madurai and Chennai, taking the team closer to audiences in the run-up to the theatrical release.
Concluding his address, Hiphop Tamizha Adhi expressed his gratitude to the press, media and the producers who have been part of his journey: “I came into this industry with nothing but dreams. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the press and media friends who have supported me, questioned me, criticised me and encouraged me throughout this journey. I am also immensely thankful to Sundar C sir and Khushbu ma’am, whose support and guidance have helped shape this film and bring it to audiences.”
With its music-driven narrative, colourful characters and a story that aims to transcend geographical boundaries, ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ is poised to bring the world of musicians and their dreams to the big screen on September 25.
