“Meesaya Murukku 2 ” Movie Review
Youthful Charm, Soulful Music and an Emotionally Resonant Finale
Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi’s Meesaya Murukku 2 brings together youthful energy, music, family emotions and the vibrant world of Gaana culture. Set against the colorful backdrop of North Chennai, the film explores three generations of musicians and their changing relationship with Gaana, while also touching upon the struggles and politics of the music industry.
As a spiritual follow-up to the 2017 film, Meesaya Murukku 2 takes a fresh approach while retaining Aadhi’s familiar youthful charm. The first half is packed with friendship, romance, comedy and music, creating a light and accessible experience, particularly for younger audiences. The North Chennai setting adds character and gives the film a distinctive cultural flavour. Though the screenplay takes some time to establish its central conflict, the engaging characters and lively treatment keep the proceedings enjoyable.
The three-generation concept gradually gives the story greater emotional depth. Karunas stands out as Das, while Baba Bhaskar is effective as Shiva. Aadhi handles the different stages of his character with ease and carries the film with his natural energy. Harshath Khan, Sha-Ra and Yogi Babu provide good support, while Ramya Ranganathan makes a strong impression with a well-defined role. Chaithra also leaves an impact in her limited appearance, while Ketika Sharma adds to the film’s romantic and lighter moments.
The film also explores the challenges faced by independent musicians and touches upon issues such as nepotism in the entertainment industry. Rather than staying one-dimensional, it gradually presents different perspectives, adding some thought-provoking moments to the narrative.
The second half is where the film finds its strongest emotional footing. Family relationships, especially the bond between fathers and sons, become the heart of the story. The three generations connect more naturally with the central theme, and the performances give the emotional scenes genuine warmth. The final stretch effectively combines emotion, motivation and music.
Music remains one of the film’s biggest strengths. Aadhi’s songs complement the youthful mood and are likely to work particularly well in theatres. The cinematography captures North Chennai’s vibrant atmosphere beautifully, while the editing maintains a lively pace through the energetic portions.
Despite a few uneven stretches in the screenplay, Meesaya Murukku 2 has a clear identity through its Gaana backdrop, music and three-generation narrative. With Aadhi’s energetic performance, strong supporting cast and an emotionally satisfying second half, it emerges as a decent, youthful and feel-good musical entertainer.
