Meesaya Murukku 2 event cancelled after huge Chennai crowd
A promotional programme for Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi’s Meesaya Murukku 2 was cancelled at short notice on Saturday night after a large crowd gathered at Phoenix Mall in Velachery, Chennai.
Aadhi had arrived at the mall for the event, but the growing number of fans made movement around the venue difficult. Police reportedly expressed concern that the crowd could become unmanageable and pose a risk to public safety.
The organisers subsequently called off the programme following police advice. Aadhi left the venue without taking part in the scheduled interaction with fans.
Later in the night, the actor and musician posted a video message expressing his disappointment at missing the opportunity to meet the audience.
He said he had been looking forward to the event but accepted the decision because ensuring the safety of fans and everyone at the venue was more important.
Phoenix Mall also issued a statement explaining that the event was cancelled as a precaution after authorities assessed the crowd density and related safety and management concerns. The incident came as ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ generated a strong response from fans ahead of its promotional activities.
