Mark Antony movie review
Story:
Selvaraghavan, a scientist in 1975 invents a time machine with the phone, one can speak to people in the past, but not the future. One can call to a date only once.
Mark Antony is about two gangsters Antony (Vishal) and Jackie Pandian (SJ Suryah). There’s then their arch nemesis Ekambaram (Sunil). On one unfortunate day in 1975, Antony is killed.
In the present, Antony’s son Mark (Vishal again) grows up in the protection of Jackie. Mark hates his father for killing his mom (Abhinaya).
He chooses to not get into violence and leads the life of a poor mechanic. However, when he gets hold of the telephone, everything about his dad seems to be in contrast to his perception of him. He has to now use the phone to rewrite his past to save both his mom and dad.
What happens next forms the crux of Mark Antony.
Analysis:
Director Adhik Ravichandran has used the time travel concept in an entertaining manner. Mark Antony has a solid story in its score and Adhik has laced it with several theatrical moments at frequent intervals.
The director has made a valiant effort and, with certain shortcomings, it still manages to engage the audience and leave them in splits.
Vishal doesn’t disappoint and his role as Antony is one to watch out for. He effortlessly brings out the variations to the father and son’s character, who are polar opposites in nature.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call S J Suryah as the life of the film. He fires from all cylinders and how.
Sunil gets yet another meaty role and has done complete justice to the character.
Rest of the cast inlcuding selvaraghavan and Ritu Varma have all delivered what was expected fro them.
Apart from SJ Suryah, it is GV Prakash’s music that takes the cake. The cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam needs special mention.
