Manikandan plays a tough cop in Makkal Kaavalan
The title of actor Manikandan’s upcoming film has been officially announced as Makkal Kaavalan, which is being produced by filmmaker Pa. Ranjith under the Neelam Studios banner.
The first-look poster features Manikandan in the role of a police officer standing amid scenes of destruction.
Describing the project, Manikandan said the film is an action drama centred on cultural and ethnic conflicts and praised its timely and honest storytelling.
The film marks the directorial debut of Santhosh Kumar, who said the story draws inspiration from real-life experiences and examines power structures, inequality and the struggles of an honest individual trying to uphold integrity within a flawed system.
According to the makers, the narrative follows an ordinary man whose determination to live with dignity gradually transforms him into an unexpected leader.
The supporting cast includes Vaagai Chandrasekar, A. Venkatesh, R.K. Vijaymurugan, Shanmugam Muthusamy, Sabumon, Unni Maya, Divya Sripada, Jenson Dhivakar, Lallu, Gemini Mani and Raghu.
The film features music by Nivas K. Prasanna, cinematography by Pratheepan Selvaratnam, editing by Arul Moses, production design by Pappanadu C. Uthayakumar and action choreography by Don Ashok. Aditi Anand, who previously co-produced Bison Kaalamaadan with Pa. Ranjith, is producing the project alongside Birla Studios.
