Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam has completed 60 per cent shoot of his upcoming film Kaatru Velyidai starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles.
According to sources, the first two schedules of the film had happened in Ooty and Hyderabad while the team is currently in Ladakh for the third schedule.
“Though it is a romantic film, it has been packed with a solid political message like Roja and Bombay,” sources said.
Mani Ratnam has roped in Bollywood character artist Vipin Sharma of Raanjhannaa and Taare Zameen Par fame to play an important role in Kaatru Velyidai.
Shradhaa Srinath also joined the team in Ooty for the shoot. “Travelling with @RJ_Balaji from Coimbatore to Ooty right now. Our first day on Mani sir’s sets tomorrow. Deivameeee”, posted Shradhaa Srinath on Twitter.
Vipin is known for his works predominantly in Hindi cinema. He is an alumnus of National School of Drama, New Delhi, India and the Canadian Film Centre, Toronto, Canada.
Produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, Kaatru Veliyidai will have Keerthana, daughter of R Parthiepan, assisting Mani Ratnam. A R Rahman is composing music.
