In a horrifying incident, a woman and her three grown up daughters were found murdered by her husband at Roypaettah area in the city this morning.
The police traced the woman’s husband Chinnarasu (35), near Marina Beach on Friday morning. Police suspect Chinnarasu to have killed his wife, his three step-daughters and lived with the bodies in the house for three days before absconding on Thursday, when the neighbours started raising questions about the pungent smell from his house.
Last night, the house owner lodged a complaint with the Royapettah Police that bad smell was emanating from the House which was locked from outside. Police rushed to the spot, broke open the doors and found all the four dead.
Chinnarasu had been living with C Meena alias Pandiammal (38) and the three daughters she had from her first marriage – Pavithra (19), Parimala (18) and Sneha (16) – in a single room accommodation in a cramped residential building in Muthu street, Royapettah, hardly two hundred meters from the Royapettah police station.
During vehicle checks at Marina beach, police found Chinnaraj’s two-wheeler. When he came to take the vehicle early this morning, police arrested him.
A statement from the Chennai city police said that the four women were killed by Chinnarasu in the wee hours of Tuesday. Frequent quarrels between Meena and Chinnarasu is said to have motivated Chinnarasu to kill Meena and her three daughters using an iron rod when they were sleeping inside house. Meena hails from Karaikudi and have been living here for the past four years along with Chinnarasu since 2012, neighbours said.
